MVD Begins Design of Covid-19 Vaccines Management Plan

The global distribution of COVID-19 related vaccines is one of the main global logistic challenge in recent times. Maintaining the cold chain, the need for larger and better infrastructure and the availability of freighters, are reasons for concern. Key actors of the logistics chain are proactively working towards paving the road for a successful distribution.

To face these challenges, MVD Free Airport has implemented the “Project Vaccines”, defining a task force responsible for establishing and providing the maximum guarantees to the handling and storage of vaccines, once they arrive to Airport premises.

The project involves a number of activities, and includes bringing together all the players in the supply chain including the Ministry of Health, Customs, carriers and freight forwarders. The expected result is to define and communicate all necessary protocols to ensure the availability of necessary infrastructure and precise processes for a safe and efficient treatment of products of such sensitivity.

The project will count with additional insights and potential practices given MVD Free Airport’s role in Pharma.Aero and its Project Sunrise. The conclusions of this initiative and next steps will be shared with key stakeholders in the logistics community before the end of 2020.
