MVD Free Airport continues consolidating itself as the most competitive platform for South American e-commerce distribution with the start of a pick-pack-ship operation aimed at cross-border sales distributed from Uruguay to the world. Together with one of the leading clothing retailers nationwide, the platform will be executed on an “end-of-runway” basis less than 200 meters away from the tarmac, allowing for shortened lead times and agile fulfillment.
The client company will perform all tasks with their own deck-hands within MVD Free Airport, which will provide complementary handling and administrative duties. “It is important to continue achieving proof-of-concept with successful operations in different sectors. Pharmaceuticals, managed access, high-tech, refurbishing, all have been success stories in the past couple of years. It is great to see an industry such as e-commerce start taking steps into optimizing its distribution strategy via unique platforms such as our Airport free zone”, said Hans Guiscardo, Senior Manager at MVD Free Airport.
Several outbound shipments have taken place in the pilot stages of the process with a seamless purchase-to-delivery method, as the project will be going live shortly.
MVD Free Airport is part of Corporación America, the parent Company that also manages the concessions of the Carrasco International Airport and Punta Del Este Airport in Uruguay, alongside over 50 airports and 10 cargo terminals in 10 countries across 3 continents.
MVD Free Airport is a business unit of Corporación America, the largest airport operator in the world with a network of over 50 airports across 3 continents.
