Latin America Cargo City made history in June, after officially receiving the first batch of medicinal cannabis containing THC for distribution to South America, under the compassionate use program.
Cargo arrived by air from Colombia and Israel in large batches, and all conditioning and pick-pack-shipping operations are performed in Latin America Cargo City on an “end-of-runway” basis. Individual shipments are prepared for named-patients, with all required documentation inserted into each package for more agile and secure clearance upon arrival to destination.
This provides a groundbreaking platform for medicinal cannabis containing controlled substance, allowing patients safe and cost efficient access to the medication in different locations.
Currently, LACC is procuring import licenses for additional batches arriving from Canada and Europe, while working on streamlining processes with the Uruguayan Ministry of Health and Customs Administration to improve the agility, safety and cost-efficiency of the operation.
Latin America Cargo City is part of Corporación America, the largest airport operator in the world with a network of over 50 airports across 3 continents.
