GSK Biologicals Selects Latin America Cargo City as its Hub for Vaccine Distribution to South America

The British pharmaceutical GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) announced that it will develop three new regional vaccine distribution centers in the world and one of them will be located in Uruguay, in Latin America Cargo City.

The company announced that center will be inaugurated in the next two months and from it more than 12 million vaccine doses per year will be distributed to six South American countries.

As the only multimodal logistics free zone located inside an airport in Latin America, LACC “strengthens the leadership role of the company and the country as logistics centers in Latin America”, according to a GSK public statement.

It is expected that starting in 2023 GSK will add more products and destinations to which Uruguay supplies and the operations will range from the temporary storage of products to value-added activities such as the preparation of the products for shipment to the final market.
